Candidates for graduate studies need to meet minimal criteria to entry university in their own countries and provide a diploma of a high school. It must say that its holder may enter university. If it doesn?t mention that, the institution issuing such diploma may state that on separate document. Since 2006, Poland and Ukraine automatically recognize each others diplomas.
If your diploma was obtained abroad it cannot be automatically recognized and is subject to nostrification at the local Ministry of Education Office. Their addresses can be found at www.men.gov.pl.
Polish universities will demand from candidates for studies to present certificate of health (usually such that was issued by polish doctor), filled application form and request to be accepted for studies as well as several photographs. If candidate is to take entry exams, universities will demand money transfer confirmation or bank receipt as a proof that usual fee of PLN 50-100 was paid (PLN 1 = UAH 2,2).
Ukrainian students will also need to present valid health insurance. It can be either insurance bought in the Ukraine and covering costs of treatment in Poland or insurance from the polish health fund. It is recommended that students, PhD students well as students on compulsory internships in Poland purchase it from the polish health fund at a monthly cost of PLN 40. Students with Polish Card will have their health insurance paid by educational institution. Other students may be asked to present different insurance depending on course and its length.
Deadline for applications for full-time studies is usually in May and varies depending on program. Usually, students may provide their high school diplomas after deadline for application documents or even after being accepted for studies.
Ukrainian students will need to apply for visa in polish embassy or consulate in the Ukraine prior to studies in Poland. Application for visa for students as well as their visiting family will be accepted free of charge if students provide a written confirmation from their polish university of educational purpose of the visit or a valid polish student ID. Guests will need to receive a written invitation according to requirements on the website http://www.msz.gov.pl. Visas allow for a stay of up to 90 days. No later than 45 days before expiration date, student who needs to stay longer in Poland will have to file for residence permit form the Voivodeship office.
